Springwoods Village is a 1,100-acre sustainable, mixeduse community that will provide employment, retail, hospitality, medical/wellness and residential choices in the northern end of Houston. Design Workshop was hired to complete the master plan for the community, to define and implement measureable sustainability goals, to analyze and minimize environmental impacts through the design process and to complete landscape design services for parks, streetscape and drainage corridors. The community lies adjacent to Spring Creek, northern Houston's open space corridor, and the design capitalizes on the property's mature forest and riparian landscapes as a natural sanctuary where people and nature can live in harmony. Springwoods Village will continue to respect the existing forest and Spring Creek riparian ecosystems by using the best practices of sustainable design and engineering to create an integrated development that has a minimal impact on the land and energy resources. This community will enable people to have “one foot in the city and one foot in nature” at the same time. Additionally, Springwoods Village will provide the framework for the sustainable growth of the local economy by providing desirable access to major highways, amenities planned within the community and transit options to promote walking and a more urbane lifestyle.
