Gray's Crossing Community Monumentation

In the Sierra Mountains lies Gray's Crossing, a carefully planned and vibrant residential community that provides world-class resort amenities to visitors and residents of Truckee, California. Working with the overall community identity program previously developed by Michael Schwab, Design Workshop designed the site sign program. The program is understated yet sophisticated, utilizing natural and indigenous site-recovered materials for walls and posts. The entry monument signs consist of dry-stacked granite and basalt walls with a system of inset logos that identify the overall community and its neighborhoods. The logos are fabricated in refined layers of cut metal as a counterpoint to the rough and natural stone walls. A system of trail markers in the form of stacked-rock cairns completes the sign program.
