Loma Larga
Monterrey, Mexico
This 26-hectare (64-acre) site in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Monterrey, Mexico, will be realized as a private, first-class mixed-use development of high-rise and high-density buildings designed with progressive urban design and planning techniques. The client has the highest aspirations for achieving local, national and international design and sustainability standards. Sustainable best practices will be incorporated into the planning, implementation and operations of the project. The development will be notable addition to the increasingly cosmopolitan architecture and skyline of Monterrey. It will also be recognized for its integration of natural systems, open space and community amenities within a dense urban context.
In a city where most projects are developed in isolation and without a solid master plan, Loma Larga's emphasis on integrating systems and connecting a mix of uses is striking. Design Workshop was hired to bring systems approach to the planning and development of the project so that the potential of this extraordinary site can be realized, enabling people to live densely within nature and to be connected to each other and amenities.
This project will distinguish itself from other developments based on how it treats the existing landscape and natural systems. The natural attributes of the site will inform planning and design approaches, from the location of buildings to the design of the architecture, from the layout of roads to water treatment techniques. The project will be recognized as a local, national and international hallmark related to: the integration of systems; the sustainable energy-efficient operations of the site and its buildings; the cutting-edge design and aesthetic of the built environment; the comfort and quality of life of residents and visitors due to the creation of places that connect people to people, to nature and to fitness; the amenities and mix of uses that attract both residents and visitors; and the provision of a secure and safe place to live, to visit and to recreate. |
