Design Workshop Wins Multiple Colorado Design Awards

Firm receives 14 awards in the areas of design, planning, communications and land stewardship, including prestigious President's Award of Excellence

Denver, CO – Design Workshop, an international landscape architecture, land planning, urban design and strategic services firm with six offices in the U.S. and work spanning the globe, recently won 14 American Society of Landscape Architecture (ASLA) Colorado Chapter Awards, which are the highest local honors presented by the ASLA.

Honored with more awards than any other firm this year, Design Workshop also will receive the prestigious President's Award of Excellence—an award that recognizes outstanding contribution in the advancement of the landscape architectural profession and exemplifies the ethics upon which the profession was founded. Design Workshop was also honored with the President's Award of Excellence in 2009 for its Callaway Gardens Strategic Land Management Plan (located in Pine Mountain, Georgia).

Design Workshop will be recognized for its work at the ASLA Colorado Awards event being held on October 14, 2010, at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver.

Design Workshop received 10 Professional Awards in the following categories:

  • President's Award of Excellence in Planning: Isla Palenque Eco-resort in the Golfo de Chiriquí, Republic of Panama
  • Honor Award in Planning:
    • Homestead Preserve in Hot Springs, Va.
    • Wildcat Ranch in Pitkin County, Colo.
    • Park Avenue Redevelopment in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
  • Merit Award in Planning: Aspen Area Community Plan in Aspen, Colo.
  • Merit Award for General Design:
    • The Inn at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.
    • The Redevelopment of the Gant in Aspen, Colo.
  • Honor Award in Communications: Trees of Aspen at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colo.
  • Honor Award in Residential Design: Capitol Valley Ranch in Old Snowmass, Colo.
  • Merit Award in Residential Design: Teton Overlook in Jackson, Wyo.

In addition, Design Workshop also received four Land Stewardship Designation Awards (recognizing projects that exemplify the stewardship of our landscape and its sustainability) for the following projects:
